GHFlashcards

GHFlashcards is a program that allows you to make flashcards from docx files.

You can download GHFlashcards 1.0 here

After running the downloaded installation file a ghflashcards shortcut should appear on your desktop.

It is free to use a limited number of times but after that you will require an activation key.

The fee for a key is currently $10.00 USD.
A key acquired from one computer will not work on another.
You can acquire an activation key from within the program.

Briefly you use it as follows:

  1. Create (or somehow obtain) a docx file (created in Microsoft Word for example) containing a table with two columns - a question column and an answer column.
  2. GHFlashcards reads the docx file and produces a file containing flashcards each with a question side and an answer side.
  3. The program runs through the flashcards presenting the question side followed by the answer side.
  4. It presents cards in random order or in sequence, depending on which you elect.
  5. It lets you record whether you know the answer or not and, if running in random order, it most often asks you the questions whose answers you most often get wrong.

More detailed instructions are viewable from within the program.

Note 1: Until an activation key is entered, the program will try to contact this website. Your anti-virus software may detect the attempt and object.

Note 2: This program has not been vetted by Microsoft, so the first time you try to run it expect a warning screen saying something like

  • Windows protected your PC. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk"

Followed by a line which misleadingly says: "More info" - leaving you with the impression there is no way to run the program
But if you click on "More info" it presents you with the option of running the program. Click Run anyway
